About Us
What started
as a car-painting business in Bishop Hill has grown into a bigger
business in Kewanee.
Spets
Brothers, Inc. has since flourished into more than just a painting
business.
Spets
Brothers, In.c was founded by Asa Spets and his brother Milford in
1913. In the fall of 1929, the two men moved the business to
Kewanee and located their shop on Loomis Place and later relocated to
514 N. Tremont St.
John
Spets, son of Asa, and his brother entered into business in 1957, three
years after their father had sold the business, reclaimed ownership and
expanded the business as painting contractors.
A
year later, they moved again to a store at 336 Tenney St. and remained
their until 1979. It was there that the retail carpeting
store developed. For a brief time during the mid-1960s, the
business also added a second location in East Moline.
Spets
Brother, Inc. moved to their current location at 102 W. Third St. in
Kewanee in 1983.
In
1990, Curt Crabtree became the Operations Manager and President.
In 1996, Rick Jacobs came on board as Director of Sales.
In 2008, Curt Crabtree decided to step down from his
positions and Matt Shirley became the new Operations Manager and
President. Rick Jacobs continues his position as Director of
Sales and is also the Vice President of Spets Brothers, Inc.
Spets
Brothers current employs include Matt Shirley, Rick Jacobs, Curt
Crabtree, David Jones, and Ray Heinrich.
